Hawick Moor
Hawick Common Riding organisers describe the celebration as the first of the Border Common Ridings, commemorating the capture of an English flag at Hornshole in 1514 and the older custom of riding the common boundaries. Public racecourse research records a formal Hawick meeting at the Pelmarig course in June 1821, with the final meeting of that historic course recorded in 1886.
